Gradient Moissanite Open Stacking Ring in 925 Silver

Two design choices define this ring. The stones are graded in size rather than matched, so the row tapers from larger at the centre to smaller as it runs down the shank, which draws the eye to one point instead of spreading attention evenly. The shank is also open rather than closed, so the two ends pass each other instead of meeting. That gives the ring a little flex, and it lets the tapering line carry on round without a visible join.

The stones are D colour VVS1 moissanite. D colour is the colourless grade, and it does the most work at the small end of a gradient, because tiny stones sit close to the metal and any warmth in them turns grey instead of yellow. VVS1 clarity means nothing is visible without magnification. Moissanite is also hard at 9.25 on the Mohs scale, which a stacking ring needs, since the rings next to it do more damage than anything else you will touch.

Sizes run 5 through 9. An open shank gives a small amount of tolerance, so if you are between sizes the smaller one will usually still seat correctly. Three finishes are offered on the S925 sterling silver band. Silver keeps the ring quiet and lets it sit under other pieces. Gold reads warmest and works as the lead ring in a stack. Rose gold falls between the two and pairs easily with both.
