Pear cut studs sit differently from round ones. The stone is set with the point down, so the widest part of the pear is at the top of the lobe and the taper follows the jawline rather than cutting across it. That orientation makes a pear look longer and larger than a round stone of the same weight, and it is the reason pear studs tend to suit round faces better than a matched pair of round brilliants.
These are certified moissanite on 925 sterling silver plated in 18k gold. The certificate is worth more on earrings than people assume, because a pear has a thin point and the point is the part that chips. Moissanite at Mohs 9.25 is hard enough that the tip survives normal wear. Its refractive index near 2.65, against 2.42 for diamond, is why a pear throws a long flash down its length instead of a single central glint.
Weights are sold as matched pairs, from 0.5ct each up to 4ct each. The 0.5ct and 0.8ct pairs are the everyday sizes and sit entirely on the lobe. The 1ct pair is the most common upgrade and is still comfortable in a backing all day. The 2ct and 4ct pairs are evening sizes and will need a secure back, since weight pulls forward. Silver or rose gold finish, both on the same sterling silver base.
