Round Moissanite Studs, 0.2ct to 3ct in 925 Silver

A solitaire stud has nothing to hide behind, so the proportions do the work. These are round brilliant stones in a four prong basket, set high enough that the pavilion sits clear of the lobe. That matters more than it sounds: when the bottom of a stone is buried in the setting, light cannot leave the back and the stone goes grey in the centre. Lifted, the same stone stays bright from across the room.

The stones are moissanite throughout, cut as round brilliants to the same facet plan used for diamond. Moissanite reads brighter at equal size because its refractive index is about 2.65 against roughly 2.42, and it is doubly refractive, which is what produces the rainbow flash people either love or notice immediately. Mohs 9.25 means the facet junctions stay sharp for years of being slept in, which is how most studs are actually treated.

Carat is sold per ear, so a 0.5CT pair is half a carat in each. The 0.2CT and 0.3CT sizes are discreet and suit a second hole or daily office wear. The 0.5CT and 0.8CT sizes are the traditional gift sizes and sit comfortably without pulling. The 2CT and 3CT options are large enough to be the only thing on the ear, and at that weight a thicker back is worth having. Finishes are silver, gold and rose gold colour on pure 925 silver.
