These are plain four prong studs, which is the setting that gets the most light into a small stone. The prongs lift the stone clear of the ear so light can enter from the side as well as the front, and that is why a prong set stud of a given carat looks brighter than a bezel of the same weight. The posts sit straight rather than angled, so the stone faces forward instead of tipping toward the jaw.

The stones are moissanite and have passed a diamond tester, which is a function of moissanite being a hard, thermally conductive silicon carbide rather than a glass imitation. That is the practical reason to choose it over cubic zirconia at stud sizes. The setting is 925 sterling silver with platinum plating, which keeps the metal a cool white instead of drifting yellow, and silver does not corrode against skin the way a brass alloy will.

The carat range here is wide, from 0.1ct up to 7ct per ear, so decide by use. Between 0.1ct and 0.3ct you get a second piercing or an everyday stud that stays under a helmet or a hood. Between 0.5ct and 1ct is the classic single stud size for men and women both. From 2ct up the stone starts to carry the whole ear, and above 3ct you want a healthy lobe to support the weight. Most pieces are hallmarked S925 sterling silver, often plated in 18k gold and sealed with an AF protective film. The exact metal, stone and finish of this piece are listed in the description above.

Sterling silver is not waterproof. Take it off before swimming, showering or sleeping, and wipe it dry after wear.

Clean it every one to two months with a soft cloth to keep the shine.

What D colour, VVS1 and GRA mean

D colour is the top of the colourless grade scale, so the stone reads white rather than yellow or grey. VVS1 is the second highest clarity grade, which means no inclusions are visible to the naked eye. Pieces marked GRA Certified ship with an official GRA grading report stating both. Zircon options, and pieces without that mark, do not include a certificate.

Most pieces are hallmarked S925 sterling silver, often plated in 18k gold and sealed with an AF protective film, and a few heavier chains use 316L steel. Each description lists the exact metal and stone. Moissanite sits at 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale, above cubic zirconia, so it holds its polish through daily wear.

Moissanite is a lab created gemstone. It is harder than cubic zirconia, sits at 9.25 on the Mohs scale, and returns more light than a diamond of the same size. Our moissanite is graded D colour and VVS1 clarity.

Does it come with a certificate?

Pieces marked GRA Certified on the product page ship with an official GRA grading report that states the colour, clarity, cut and carat weight. Other pieces, and all zircon options, do not include a certificate.

Can I wear it in water?

No. Sterling silver is not waterproof. Take your piece off before swimming, showering or sleeping. Wipe it dry after wear and it will keep its finish for years.

How do I choose my size?
