Pear is a directional cut, with a rounded end and a single point, so it has to be set the right way up to work. Here the point sits upward along the lobe, which draws the eye vertically and lengthens the line of the neck. The shape also spreads its weight across a longer footprint than a round stone of the same carat, so a pear always looks bigger than its carat number suggests.
Every stone is D colour, VVS1 clarity moissanite with a GRA certificate. Clarity is worth paying attention to on a pear in particular, because the narrow point is thin, shallow and brightly lit, which is exactly where an inclusion would show. VVS1 keeps that area clean. The point is also the most fragile part of any pear, so the 9.25 Mohs hardness of moissanite matters more here than it would on a round stone.
Five sizes run from 0.5ct at 4x6mm up to 4ct at 8x12mm. The 0.5ct and 0.8ct at 5x7mm are everyday studs that stay inside the outline of the lobe. The 1ct at 5x8mm is the balance point, clearly a pear but still practical. The 2ct at 7x10mm and 4ct at 8x12mm extend past the lobe and are evening pieces. White gold, yellow gold and rose gold plating are available on solid 925 sterling silver.
