The appeal of an oval solitaire is how much surface area you get for the weight. A round stone spends a lot of its carat on depth below the setting, where nobody sees it. An oval spreads instead of sinking, so it looks larger on the hand than a round of the same weight and still keeps the brilliant faceting that produces the flash. Set lengthways along the finger, it also stretches the hand and keeps the shank looking slim.
All four weights use D colour moissanite. Colourless grading is what stops a large stone from going warm or grey in the middle, and that becomes more important as the stone gets bigger, because there is simply more material for any tint to show through. Moissanite also helps itself here: a refractive index near 2.65 against diamond at 2.42 means it bends light harder and returns more coloured fire, which is the first thing people notice across a room.
Choose the weight by hand and habit. The 1ct at 5x7mm is discreet and comfortable under gloves. The 2ct at 7x9mm is the balance point between presence and daily practicality. The 3ct and 4ct, both around 8x10mm, are statement stones that suit a longer finger and a confident hand. Sizes run 5 through 9, across white gold, yellow gold and rose gold on S925 sterling silver plated in 18k.
